Plum’s third album refines the lush pop sound of their earlier efforts, shading Steve McAllister’s catchy songs with finely wrought arrangements and gorgeous harmonies — Trespassing still owes far too much to heroes like the Beatles and XTC for comfort, but it’s nevertheless a major step forward in the group’s development.
